Deborah BORDERIAU

Background.....

 

Deborah is an experienced French/English freelance translator/interpreter having worked in the rail, aeronautical, industrial valve and the food industry for over 20 years namely with Alstom Traction Ltd UK, Intertechnique SA (Zodiac) France, MCM SA, France (abattoir machinery), and Rockwell Valves SA, France. 

 

With an English mother-tongue, but having lived in France for 30 years Deborah  obtained French nationality in 1992,  her French language level is near native and she possesses a wide knowledge of French culture, its language and colloquialisms.

Experienced in interpreting, for factory visits, tradefair (IPA Paris), hospitality and business meetings she has extensive technical documentation translation experience both from and into French.

She is also experienced in using CAT tools for translation and formatting - (MemoQ)

As a full member of the Institute of Linguists (MCIL), Chartered Linguist status (CL) since August 2021 she is a qualified Public Service Interpreter and  holder of  DPSI  - Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (language French – pathway English Law). She has carried out face to face interpreting contracts for the Metropolitan Police,  the Ministry of Justice, in Crown Court and Magistrates Court. She also carries out public service assignments for the NHS trust, CAFCASS, the Home Office (immigration) and crime investigation agencies, also working regularly with private solicitors.

She is based in Preston,Lancashire, in the North West but is willing to travel to most parts of the UK.

As a member of the North West Translators' Network (Manchester) she carries out regular CPD (continuing professional development) with various associations.

Also CELTA Cambridge qualified to teach English as a foreign language to adults.

Holder of the DBS (formerly "CRB") enhanced certificate and NPPV level III Police vetting status.
